If the reluctant or unwilling partner resists the idea of counseling or backs away from attempts to save the marriage, the other spouse should try to persistently nudge (without being pushy) that person toward doing so.
Or if a hesitant spouse is open to new ideas on saving the marriage, by making a few changes, the constructive spouse must continuously influence the neutral spouse to move in that direction of implementing these new changes or adjustments to make the marriage work.
There are plenty of ways to use the many ways to save a marriage, even with one party to the marriage actively engaged in these ways. One important thing is that the spouse that is going to make this attempt and efforts must go about it in the right way. This is where some marital education and consultation comes into play. The aid of credible, professional counseling and advice that can show the ways to save a marriage must be sought and acted upon. Once all these attempts are tried, and knowledge gained acted upon, there can be no question that the side that wants to save the marriage has the overwhelming advantage.
